THIS FIRST!
It is recommended that you use a broadband
connection, as there is 120 MB of stuff.
If you have a dial-up connection, it
is better to order
the CD-ROM.
If you don't know what "unzip"
means, please order
the CD-ROM; everything installs automagically
in 2 minutes with no hassles.
This is complex software, not a simple
flash card system, and requires that you follow 5 instructions
to install it. If you are the kind of person who refuses to read
or follow instructions, please spare us both the aggravation
and order the CD-ROM.
Every week I get e-mails for one or two people who download everything,
ignore the instructions, install only one or two of the many
components, then tell me my software is no good.
One lady said, "It's too complex,
please e-mail me the program." Sorry, lady, it's 120 MB.
One man said, "I downloaded the
files, but I don't know where they are, so I can't follow your
instructions, so your software is no good." Sigh. If you
don't know enough about your own computer to know where stuff
is, please order the CD-ROM.
Another said, "I expected just
one setup or install program, instead there are more than 40
of them, so I installed Speak Easy Thai only, and it didn't work,
so your software is no good." Sigh. The instructions clearly
state which one of the 40 you run, but he didn't read the instructions.
That one installs all the rest automatically. Speak Easy Thai
uses and relies on the Multi-Language Dictionary server which
handles the thousands of words in the dictionary. There are also
many image and sound libraries. You cannot run it by itself.

This trial
version of Speak Easy Thai includes all of the software, the Thai and
English dictionaries, and some of the data files,
for free. The other dictionaries and the grammar ebook are not
included in this download.
What are not free are
the bonus files: more than 3000 images and 4000
sound files are protected and available only to those who purchase
the CD-ROM or donate US$39 (about 23 Euros) to the Multi-Language
Dictionary Project.
The trial version software is complete
and usable without the bonus files. You can download the software,
try it out, and it costs you nothing but time. If you like the
software, you can then donate $39 and receive access to the bonus
files. When Speak Easy Thai tries to access a protected bonus
file, you get a simple message that the file has not been downloaded
yet; the software does not fail. |
